Ann’s Community Kitchen is a community interest company (CIC) and we are currently part funded by the National Lottery with additional support from Newport City Council’s Food Poverty fund.
We are a non-profit cookery school based in Newport, South Wales. We believe cooking is for everyone - communities and families - and it can bring good health and well-being to our community.
Our aim is to teach people in our local area to cook simple, healthy and delicious food on a budget.
The Elderly
Our focus is to help the elderly look after themselves by eating healthily but at the same time to provide an environment where they can socialise and cook together. For this group it's as much about reducing loneliness and isolation as it is about cooking.
Teenagers
For teenagers our objective is to help them to eat healthily and give them an understanding of some basic cooking methods that will stay with them for life. This helps build self confidence which in turn helps with other aspects of life, such as finding a job.
Parents & Young Children
For parents with young children the emphasis is on giving them ideas about what to cook that's healthy and nutritious for children and how to cook simple and delicious meals with their children that the whole family can enjoy.
We believe cooking should be for everyone and we are able to provide Makaton and BSL friendly classes where we are use Makaton and/or BSL to cook with those who are deaf or hearing-impaired.
We can be contacted by phone, Facebook or email. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
